An advisory committee has recommended federal approval of Qnexa, the first anti-obesity prescription drug that would come on the market in 13 years. The overwhelming 20-2 vote came less than two years after the same advisory panel, though not with the identical members, voted 10 to 6 against recommending Qnexa, which is manufactured by the pharmaceutical company Vivus.
